WHAT ABOUT MEDICATIONS ?

While we don't shame or pressure people to get off medications, We do have some issues with them. If people offer that they want to get off dependence on chemicals, but either express fears about stopping them, or are in conflict with their doctor about them, I generally suggest that for the time being they follow their medication routine as is. Rather than create an energy sapping conflict, I tell them to put all their effort and attention on working the CHAANGE Program, a well designed method for the elimination of Severe Anxiety. What is predictable then is that in 3 weeks or perhaps 3 months, depending on the individual, they will wake up one morning saying, "Gosh, I'm feeling and doing so much better, I don't need these meds any longer." I advise them to consider reducing the meds very gradually then, or trust their M.D. to guide them. A major problem with meds is that they will never eliminate the anxiety condition, any more than alcohol will, another chemical frequently tried by individuals. They just cover the problem, and they do nothing to eliminate it. While some of you choose to use the option of doing the CHAANGE Program entirely on your own following the instructions as given, a larger number of you prefer to have as much confidence as you can that you will do well. You choose to work with a well prepared CHAANGE Affiliated Professional. LIFESKILLS

   
 

The LifeSkills program is an audio taped learning process designed for the anxious young person, aged 6 to 15.  LifeSkills can be used by a professional therapist or can be used in the home or classroom, monitored by a parent, teacher or youth worker.

Each Session is Focused on a Specific Area:

  • Session 8: Anger - A universal human emotion that, properly handled, can be productive
  • Session 9: Assertive Living - A skill to change the young person's assumptions about power and self-worth relative to other individuals.
  • Session 10: Living Fearlessly - To become free of anxiety, worry, anticipation and distress, one must take risks in new situation using carefully applied techniques.
